I don’t think Torvan was prepared at all for the arrival of a bear into our little travelling group. I have to admit that when I started out on this journey, I wasn’t expecting to see a bear up close, let alone have one settle himself down on the edge of our camp and show every sign of staying with us forever.
I suppose we should have warned Torvan before we set out but it was him that mentioned that a lot of the old pathways are called bear paths, so I think we assumed he would have worked it out.

We made good time along the path and made camp for the night close to the river and a short walk from the local Riverwardens waypost. We have been discussing how we get to Sylvara, it is half the world away now and we need to make some progress. I know that populated places might have warnings about us or some sort of order to keep us for questioning, but I can’t help feeling that the river is safer than the roads.
I have had good relationships with the Riverwardens at home, and on this journey, I can’t help but feel they are as unhappy with the changes as we are. Not only that that, I am feeling a pull towards the water. I have felt the paths beneath my feet and now I need to feel the flow to see what it can tell me.
Elyr thinks the resonance flows are very slightly shifting towards the river as we discuss it, I could feel what they meant when they pointed it out. Torvan is not so sure, he has reservations about whether we will be turned back over to the Department of Resonance Integrity if we go too close. I understand his point, but he can’t feel the flows so clearly. His augmentations have given him increased sensitivity but he says it is not attuned properly. When he mentioned this, Elyr stated that they might be able to help him with that. They are a Sonorist after all.
I left them discussing possible adaptations to Torvan’s augmentations, and wandered closer to the edge of the river. I could feel that there was something there, the flows were aligning and if I could only read them I would feel much more comfortable. I think my brain is still a little out of balance after Kethra.
As I stood there I heard Elyr in my head:
“I still don’t know much about bears, but I think that one might be trying to help you decide”
I looked around and the bear had silently got up and was standing on the path beside me facing directly towards the way station.
